This is an excellent memoir but WHYYYYY in the year of our Lord 2025 are we still referencing Harry Potter?? That lady does not deserve our breath and there are so many other nostalgic books that deserve referencing.

There are EIGHT main characters in this book so audio is absolutely not the way to go. I’m putting this one back on the shelf for now.

I HATE the narrator’s side character voices. The main character is great. The side characters are so so so bad. Send help.

I tried to listen to Beloved on audiobook but Toni Morrison is just too soft spoken. Love her though. I’ll try again.

Daisy Edgar Jones is such a good narrator. Alison Steadman makes far too many mouth noises and does way too much loud breathing. Sorry girlie but my brain is exploding. I’m very committed to finishing this book because it’s the last of Beth O’Leary’s back catalogue for me but I am STRUGGLING.

8 hours and 33 minutes into the book, the main character is finally born. Only 11 hours and 43 minute to go. How exhausting.

This is so long

I don’t think I find the main character particularly likable.

The intro to this book is 21 pages of analysis. The entire thing is only 107 pages. Was that necessary???? Also can this type of intro be put at the end instead? Maybe I want to figure out the meaning for myself first and they always have spoilers. Anyway, I skipped the intro after 8 pages 😅
