Literally all he does is beat up other monkeys so he can keep the top spot in the tree

Fantastically written! I'm having a ton of fun with this. Shoutout to Gabaldon for having her character go back in time chapter TWO I was prepared for it to take way longer.

Recommended by my mom because I loved Pillars of the Earth.

Been reading slow lately

This book is brutal. I’m enjoying it very much.

I’m loving this. I’ll definitely be reading more epic horror in the future.

Wanted to read horror going into spooky season, and have been wanting to read Dan Simmons for forever. Also wanted a big fat meaty mass market paperback to sink my teeth into, so here we are.

Still one of the strangest fantasy books I've ever read. Not in a good way or a bad way, just reads as two seperate stories in a trenchcoat masquerading as one.

Within these last 100 pages I am fully sure this book will emotionally destroy me

I love the way GGK portrays sex and sexuality in this book. It's explicit, but never romanticized as more than an urge - and then he focuses deeply on the emotional relationships between characters. And those two are never blurred for the reader, yet are for the characters, which is fascinating to see.

This is basically Stephen King does The Hunger Games.

I'm genuinely in awe of this book.

This may be one of the all time fantasy greats.

Wanted to read more King, and the movie coming out gives me incentive. Great so far!

I feel like I’m not at the main meat of this book yet, I’m still in the midst of what the book jacket says is the setup. Yet this setup, the politics, the character building, the world building, is all amazing. Truly top notch. Moves a bit slow at the beginning but I am genuinely amazed at this intricacies of plot, themes and characters here. No wonder people love GGK.

There is a character in this named Nunaya and my brain immediately went NUNAYA BUSINESS. I think I’m cooked.
