I am so emotionally invested in these dang characters, especially Vivienne 😩 and the YEARNING for a certain commander, i am about to combust. 🫠🫠🫠 Cici seems like he could play a mean fiddle like a certain fae male of the spring court if you know what I mean.

March 4, 1837 was a wild day around the world & the economy is about to crash for the first time (like Depression level crash). And the cotton boom in US before that expanded slavery & people (including the govt) chose money over humanitarian principles & i am wildly disappointed. In the “land of the free” govt drove “native Americans west, clearing land for new plantations.” Free labor, cheap land. Wow. 🤢

So Martin has done politician shit in New York and he’s also done some questionable things like have a feud with Dewitt Clinton for something Dewitt didn’t even do (which was confirmed by the man who dis it) and encouraging Andrew Jackson’s entire cabinet to quit/be fired. But now the election of 1828 some southern states don’t have his name on the ballot for VP they have some other dudes name. What!

Not gonna lie, i feel some type of way that I never knew about Herman Husband & the Regulator Movement in the 1760s-1770s. 🤯 I’ve researched a lot of American revolution history but I had never deep dived on the build up like this. Andrew has been successfully re-elected for some reason, and the first thing he wants to do is the Compromise of 1833, to get South Carolina off of his back and avoid civil war. And it works… for now. The second thing he wants to do is completely destroy the federal bank & he removed $10 million of federal reserves from the bank and thinks he’s doing a great job. Lol, he doesn’t see the Panic of 1837 coming.

So the build up to Andrew’s re-election is wild. He still has not abolished the Tariff of Abominations & South Carolina is threatening to nullify it and everyone thinks that’s going to cause a Civil War. Both sides are raising up armies in secret in case shit hits the fan. And this is going down in 1832/1833 so they got some time, truly.

Well, Andrew has just purged his cabinet & is emotionally manipulating his own family all over Margaret Eaton and i just do not understand it. Andrew & Emily enforce your boundaries and cut off your uncle! I am convinced so far that he was an unhinged psycho / master manipulator who truly should never have held office. Also, they just signed legislation to carry out the Trail of Tears and it’s fucked.

Mr. Meacham is being entirely too kind to Andrew. He was trying to argue that Monroe implied it was okay for him to seize Florida from Spain (Monroe did no such thing), let alone that he continued on to execute two British officers... adopted Lyncola after murdering his family, but called him savage and kept him in the house.. and Meacham wants to argue we ought to call Andrew sophisticated. Sir.

JQA So far is living a full life — childhood trauma (thanks Abigail), losing his potential love of his life because his mom forbids the marriage, ascending in a governmental role as a diplomat, finding a new love of his life and marries her but he’s also kind of an asshat to her and I don’t know if “love” is the right word to describe their relationship. But his policies are 👌🏼 so far
