starting to wonder if my lukewarm enjoyment of the odyssey is because I am not vibing with wilson's translation. or if it's because of the way that people have been talking about the odyssey in the wake of the movie adaptation that have given me a really different impression of what the epic poem is like

I just really hope the next story doesn't have the story bit where an alien infodumps about his civilization to a human again

I’m now only capable of reading this during the daytime because reading it before bed was creeping me out just a little bit more than I liked 😖

putting myself through new forms of torture by waiting 3 months to read any more of monte cristo because I am dedicated to the bit of matching my reading to the serialized publication dates. but instead of waiting 7 months I will wait for 3. anyway can you imagine being a reader of this during its original publication and having to wait for 6 months only for dumas to STILL be introducing the guests at this breakfast
