just got to a part that genuinely felt like a bad tumblr fake story post. like everyone is applauding at the detention center after these two women declared they were dating in order to provide an alibi for the main character who is being accused of arson. this is absurd

I fear the lesbians are not toxic enough and the cannibalism is not unhinged enough

finally tackling my long overdue Hamlet re-read

'I wish there was less fighting,' I think, about a book that is about war

feeling optimistic that I will like this more than the Odyssey but we shall see

starting to wonder if my lukewarm enjoyment of the odyssey is because I am not vibing with wilson's translation. or if it's because of the way that people have been talking about the odyssey in the wake of the movie adaptation that have given me a really different impression of what the epic poem is like

I just really hope the next story doesn't have the story bit where an alien infodumps about his civilization to a human again

I think only Chinese scifi consistently makes me feel brain shivers, in which I feel every single synaptic connection in my brain tingling with delight at experiencing the infinity of space

I want to eat a nectarine now

predicting already that I’m gonna come out of this covered in viscera and claim that I have completely normal thoughts about frankenstein

girl sitting next to me at my local matcha place was also reading the count of monte cristo, and I ended up having a nice chat about books with her and her friend :)

about to make a complaint about a book that I usually never have: this is way too long 🙄
