I’m interested at this point in who the killer is but I’m hating reading this so much that I’m contemplating dnf’ing and just looking up spoilers.

Uh oh! This is written so poorly. We may have another YA for adults on our hands. I already hate it- “us spooky types” ???? Be so for real are you not like other girls or what??
Anyway I’ll give it one more chapter before I dnf but it’s not looking good.

I feel comfortable skipping these hunting chapters altogether. Though I do appreciate that Tolstoy himself did eventually give up hunting and became a vegetarian.

I started reading these books in 1996 and it took me until *right now* to think of this so take it with a grain of salt, but..Why not let the yeerks, the actual slugs, touch the cube and get stuck in a body of their choosing? If they want to be human they could do it Ax-style, getting several humans dna and blending it to a new, unique human. And then they wait with them the two hours and that’s it, problem solved.

This is reading very YA so far, which I hate. If your main character is 24, fine, but this one is 26, which is pushing it for me.
