Just got started reading a little bit ago. I really enjoy reading the journal entries of both the Union (Franklin Horner) and Confederate (Thomas Ware) soldiers, as thetmy are leading up to the Battle of Gettysburg. Very interesting commentary by the author after each day's entry.

So far this book is amazing!! Numerous storylines, as well as battlefronts. A series just does not get any better than the Wheel of Time. A Memory of Light has a wonderful mix of dread and hope. Cant wait to see what happens.

I am amazed that Sanderson has been able to capture the essence of each character! I thought the series would have a different feel to it, but I was wrong. Sanderson, thus far, has done an amazing job! It helps that Sanderson was a Wheel of Time fan and already knew all the character's nuances.

A couple slow points in this book, but a lot of important things are taking place and it is getting very interesting. Rand is attempting to remove the taint from saidin, Mat has encountered the woman he is foretold to marry, the Daughter of the Nine Moons (though is currently unaware who she is), Faile has been captured by the Shaidar Aiel and Perrin is in search mode.

As most everyone has stated, the series slows down a bit, this book included. However, just because it slows down does not mean it is not good. A lot is still going on and many different plots are continuing to take shape. One thing I did not like was the absence of Mat. At the end of ACoS we were left a cliffhanger with Mat and throughout all of APoD we hear nothing of what happened to him. Time for Winter's Heart

After the prologue, it appears Rand will have even more to deal with (the Seanchan, the Forsaken, attempting to unite all lands under his banner, worrying about how to handle the Aes Sedai both rebel and White Tower). Now it appears the northern countries are going to attempt to ally together to prevent his ruling them. How much more can he have on his plate!? The only downfall thus far is not knowing what happened M

The book starts out very slow for the first 60-70 pgs, until you begin to start getting a little of the storyline and understanding what the backstory is about. Then you start to get a feel for what is going on. The dialogue is a little lacking throughout so far, but is less noticeable now that the story is unfolding.

Seems like this could be a pretty good trilogy. The potential is there in the 1st 100 pgs. I like the idea of people's magical powers coming and going as the celestial formations (Para, Tira, Sina and Oma) ascend and descend. Those able to channel each ones power are jistas (parajista, tirajista, etc., etc.). Really excited as of now.

Cory is reading Lord of Chaos (The Wheel of Time, #6)
This book was another amazing chapter in one of the most epic fantasy stories ever written. I have seen a couple people say this book was slow with very little happening, but I do not agree. It may have been a little slower than previous books, but it was great regardless. There was a lot of maneuvering and jockeying for positions of power and quite a few new developments that lend well to the stories' progression.A+
