I wasn‘t hooked until now. Maybe things will start to connect more, fingers crossed

Part II is the best part so far. It is a nice feeling, seeing how elements track across the poems and resurface time and again. I think it is more enjoyable not to consider them individually but as a whole.

This is like those cozy books store or cat in the library,… genre reads but it is a noodle shop and set in the future with robots and so on.

This is so much different than I expected

Carousel by O’Shea really grows on you or maybe sneaks up on you. A good one

Came for the Vollmann piece but stayed for My first husband by Stephanie Wambugu. Although Happy Ending by Brittany Newell was also a good one. The poems haven’t been that good for now

Happy Ending was quite nice actually, however the angle part was the best one the rest seemed at times a bit fluffy.
Ernaux eludes me - yet again, I think we are just not a good match.

This feels like a novel that is best read in small increments, a couple of chapters at a time. The in and out adds a lot.

bought the paperback as well - going back and forth between the two, this is quite dense and the maps and the endnotes are ofc missing from the audiobook, would definitely recommend the printed version

This would be a very quick read but I am not cheating and will wait patiently

I actually started with the introduction and I am liking it atm… what is happening

How is this so good?!
Right before the midpoint I was confused for a while but now I am just vibing, there is so much in there and it is like your brain constantly branches ideas off of the sentences and it just feels good. I missed Lidia without realizing it.

What I like: it forces me to read slower, taking the sentences in and allowing them to unfold but not in a ‘way of writing’ manner but rather to allow my thoughts time to explore the sentence.

What I find strange or don’t like but won’t be bothered by it: he advocates for not giving anything to the poor and thinks formal education is a complete wast of time (wait…is it?)

Maybe the second time is a charm.

finally, this one chapter somewhat in the middle of the novel ignited the fire again. I am hooked....aiiii

Alright the first half is over, now the real hunt begins

The immediate beginning somewhat put me off because it did not feel like the Leky I grew so fond of in „was man von hier aus sehen kann“ but then she came back an enamored me again only to blurr again like the sight of our protagonist. A rollercoaster for now…
