Loving it. The writing style of the translation is really beautiful and engaging. I'm totally sold.

Switched to the audiobook. So painfully slow, but the actual plot points are cool at least. I can't really read currently cause I'm so overwhelmed and audio during my commute is the only way to go for me right now

This is really very boring so far. I don't want to dnf two books in a row, but I expected something really cool. The Unworthy did the cramped monastery setting so much better and so much more viscerally that this feels YA in comparison.

I'm dnf'ing. I don't care for this book AT ALL. It's so surprisingly uninsightful and I'm simply bored by supposed feminism through inaction. I would've never thought I'd dislike this book, but here we are

A kingdom for a more headstrong editor

This reads so much like Don't Let the Forest In, but not in a good way. It's not AS overwritten, but the prose is, again, repetitive and the imagery flat. The characters are also super similar to Drews' previous novel. Both teenage boys are beautiful, suffering, feminine; Evander's thinness is often in focus. It reads like the steel-engraving lady projected on gay teens, and I find that genuinely weird.

Spontaneously starting Hazelthorn today because the friend for whom I'm catsitting has it on her shelf, so Katabasis will be on a quick 5-day break 🫡✨️

Definitely liked the last 15-ish % much less than the rest, but it was a super fun book! I also realized that I like Harrow much much than Gideon.

Seriously loving Harrow so far - I think I'm enjoying this one even more than Gideon!

I'm giving audiobooks another try via a short story/novella collection. I figured Ken Liu wouldn't disapppoint, and the first story already made me tear up. So excited for the rest!

The writing is fucking DELICIOUS. I'm absolutely loving it so far, it seems to be right up my alley.

Wow, this was pretty incredible. I don't think I even got half of it, and it still was so so good. Loved it!
