Beth is a bitch.

Putting this book down is increasingly difficult. Right out of it things started happening, and since the beginning it’s just a rush of stuff and twists and new information…I love it! I just wish I had time to sit and finish it in one go!!!

I’m reading out of stubbornness now. I want it to get better but I find it more annoying, more frustrating. I want to be invested but I’m not. Too much is going on and nothing is happening. Or, too much is trying to go on and none is consistent with the characters back stories.

Again, why am I reading this book? Bryce is getting on my nerves. And can’t this whole thing go beyond her dead friend? I have a hard time believing her friend had a hand in all these super secret things. It seems like a reason to keep her relevant. I guess I still read cuz it’s not bad just boring. Pretty much like the first book. I just want to be done.

I don’t know why I’m reading this book. I struggled with the first - it wasn’t anything special and though I like fantasy, this is less fantasy than I thought. It’s mystery-fantasy-steampunk (I’m assuming). I just.. not a fan of fantasy with guns. But I’ll keep going?

I’m done with this book. The main character is a horrible assassin. I don’t like her and find her very annoying. I don’t like that Kale guy. I think there is no chemistry between them and it is forced by the author. The writing isn’t bad, it’s slow. I know this is my take, but I don’t want to waist time on a book series that will disappoint me.

Is it me, or is Celaena a bad assassin? You’d think they would value relationships to get information, but she’s pushing everyone away. The more I read the more she annoys me. And Choal. I feel like stuff between them is forced and unnaturally written. At least with Dorian it seemed to flow better. The writing is better.

I just want this book to end. It reads like they fired her editor as soon as much could have been taken out to make a better story.

This series has gone down hill with this one book. It seems like too many plots are trying to happen plus the “romance” aspect is not that (if you could see the faces I made). Everything seems to be tacky and reads as a first time author writing to get an audience. She has an established audience. No need to make it NC-17. Where’s my sharpie, I have edits to make…and some soap for my eyes. But I continue…

Nope. This book series took a turn for the super fucking predictsble and I hate it. Should have stopped at book 3.

If this book / series ends how I think it's going to end, I'm going to be very disappointed.

It shows a perspective that most people don’t read or experience. It shows the struggle of being Muslim in the U.S. However, ends of each chapter sound like rants. The author comes off being very angry and having hubris when talking about people who may not know the rich history of Muslim history /history in general. I think the audience for this book is a specific one. But maybe they will change as I continue.
