As research for my newest book, I'm rereading The Man with the Golden Arm, a Chicago classic, as well as a non-fiction piece on Black Politics and the Chicago Machine. Both fascinating as both research and entertainment.

Lately, as inspiration for my newest book, about a racially-charged crime that was buried in history by Chicago's political machine, I've been reading and watching as much as I can about my hometown. My favorites are:
