This is well written and held my attention each time I pick it up.

Someone read Sterling Hayden's The Voyage before he wrote this.

So far, so good. I'm enjoying the simple prose. The book is turning out to be a series of shorts stories, all connected by their characters and history.

Interesting: There is a character at a logging camp named Keetchum and in John Irving's "Last Night in Twisted River," there is also a character named Ketchum. Coincidence?

What a story. I've only read three of Wilbur's shorter novels and this long one is moving just as fast as those. Oh yeah. Still lots of sexy time.

Lordy. So much sexy time in this one.

Good story but I'm a little surprised at the amount of "soft porn". Smith usually throws a bit in the few books of his that I've read but this one is chock-a-block full. Read on I must.

Was kind of dry until the little dinner party. Shite got real then.

"They (Vikings) knew that in the real world, conditions were not fair."

I'm glad they don't get too long-winded with the technical talk about planes, but glad there's enough to understand the machines of the day. As usual, Wareham is schooling us in the sociology of the periods he examines.

I'm not sure which page but I know I'm listening to chapter 6. Great new angle on Will Shakespeare in his days.

It was a lot funnier when it was read to me on a podcast. But I'm enjoying it.

OMG, John. 264 and he's only 9? No wonder you needed 820 pages for this one.
It's getting a little tedious now, but if I treat each part like its own little book, then it makes it easier to understand the need for so much detail. I can't remember any Irving characters that I've gotten to know so well.

Well, he certainly has my interest now. This is akin to tugboat stories.

I'm glad to have picked this up after years of passing over it in my "to read" pile. I want my next president to grow up like this.

You have to sail to appreciate this story, raunchy as it is.

So far, so good. Nothing like a good tugboat story.

The price edition is read by a whiskey voiced feller who hardly sounds like young Uthred, unless maybe Uthred is recalling his youth while now an old beat down man. The women's voices are hilarious and the Russian accents of the Danes and monks takes getting used to. But this is a Cornwell story and the story carries the day. Good stuff regardless of the delivery.

LOLz. They talked funny.

So far, so good. This guy did his research. I'm learning a lot about the business of Letters of Marque.

Not much like the series. Better. Can't put this down. I may have found a new author.
