"The Long Rain" story/chapter . . . jaw. on. the. floor.

Reading for the third (?) time in preparation for the new Piper at the Gates of Dusk, which should be on my doorstep tomorrow (cue crazy fangirl screaming).

When life is over it is like a flicker of bright film, an instant on the screen, all of its prejudices and passions condensed and illumined for an instant on space, and before you could cry out, "There was a happy day, there a bad one, there an evil face, there a good one," the film burned to a cinder, the screen went dark.

Wowowowow.

What a delightful time to not know my 15th century British monarchy history, as this just took quite the turn!

What the heck? This is making the first in the series look like total amateur hour.

. . . We openly confessed our fears and hatreds of other females. We talked about how to combat jealousy, the politics of envy, and so on. Part of the process of becoming a feminist was to critique and change our sexist ways of seeing one another.

From girlhood on, females learn how to use terroristic tactics of exclusion, ostracism, and shunning to police one another.

Man, I am just loving this so far.

Going to take a step back and read this at a slower pace of a chapter or two a day because I'm starting to get quite cranky at the repetitive nature of it. But I think it is important reading, so I do want to finish it.
