Okay I'm thinking the author has tried so hard not to bring attention to the fact that Amara is a black woman that she forgot herself...spray tan on a black woman living in Southern CA? I've been trying to ignore all the descriptions that just don't fit but c'mon now! Does the woman on the cover look like she needs to use spray tan??

I'm not a big new adult fan, but I'm liking this already. Wasn't sure about Jersey out of the gate, but the more I read the more I like her character. She feels very "real" to me.

Something is holding me back from getting into this book. Putting it aside for a bit and will come back to it. Bummer!

I'm riveted. Still wish the characters were older, especially since they feel older in some ways. But the youth is still obvious in other ways...

I have to say that YA is not really my cuppa and these children are really very young! That said, this is pretty good and the writing is top-notch! I'm hoping they age significantly before the story ends though.

I'm really liking this book. I need to get the first book in the series to understand some of what is being discussed, but I'm all over that. Brenda Jackson knows how to write and juggles several story-lines effortlessly.

I'm loving this so far! This reminds me of (Geek Alert!)a cross between the old television show Firefly (the movie Serenity)and Indiana Jones.

Olivia is driving me nuts! Can I slap her? Please! Or better yet can I just slap Baird for not sending her on the first flight back to Earth. (I don't condone violence but this character is taking me there!)

This book is very multi-ethnic. I like this. It kind of reminds me The Vampire Huntress books by L.A. Banks in that respect.
