There were bananas wrapped in ham and doused in hollandaise sauce, a Monterey soufflé salad with olives and tuna, a seafood mousse shaped into a smiling fish, a bologna and cream-cheese cake stacked a foot high, and a meat and vegetable loaf frosted in mayonnaise."

Icl it is definitely giving pretentious but it does have some beautiful prose and some good things to ponder.

Uncomfortably relatable but incredibly well written thus far
