i so desperately want to feel the same way about this book as everyone else seems to but uhhhhhhhhhhhhh

this pseudo infidelity plot line is stressing me out. like, it's genuinely not fun. 

i'm enjoying the book so far, aside from a few nitpicks here and there. the worldbuilding is interesting and it's tropey in a way i love.

but unfortunately i'm not sure how much i'm liking the audiobook? i don't love the voice the narrator does for the main character. i honestly just might skip the audio, and wait until i have a few uninterrupted hours to sit and read the rest.

uhhhh how old is jack again? 10 going on 35? ahdhfjfjhd lmao look i know these kids are clever for their age but every other piece of dialogue makes me think the author has never met a child in her life

i'm SOOO glad we're not doing the typical overprotective brother plot, or the typical secret keeping plot that we get in so many brother's best friend romances. i'm SOOO glad we shut that down almost immediately.

i'm sorry to say that this is the exact type of conflict that is really annoying to me. i guess it depends on how it's resolved... but it's already gone on for WAY too long.

i knew this was going to be messy, but alas, it's not really the fun-messy that i can usually enjoy. it's getting a little cringe-messy...

i'm so behind on book reviews, ahhh! i'm gonna try to challenge myself to actually get my thoughts out in a succinct way, so that i don't fall even more behind.

in reality, i'm listening to this audiobook while puttering about in my kitchen, chopping potatoes and onions. but spiritually, i'm lying in bed, giggling, kicking my feet, twirling my hair, etc.

loving it just as much as the first time, ahhh

a bit too heavy on the enemies portion for my tastes. but i'm still liking it.

this is a 4 star book trying to claw its way out of a 1 star bag. i'll explain what i mean if i don't end up DNFing it. the formatting alone is driving me up a wall.
