I should probably do some chores but a book in bed is so much more enticing ....

Informative. It has lots and lots of pictures, and if there is any case a picture is worth a thousand words this is it.

These days when I am not making art (dare I call it that?), I want to read about art, artists and art-making. I'd be happy to hear if anyone has any suggestions for me.

As I started reading this book it occurred to me that sketching frames from an animated movie could be a fun drawing exercise. Turns out, this is actually a known practice. It is wonderful how I am arriving at all these ideas on my own in my explorations. It is probably quicker to learn if someone gave me exercises to do each day but so so so less fun :-)

I like his nazms better, and one in particular called "Aansoo" is my favorite. Such depth of feeling and beautiful words, but all written in a fairly simple style.

I hated how all of the recent past of India's history is such a haze for me and for so many young people like me. This book gives a view of the political milieu of the country in the decades following independence in an engaging manner. The one great difference I see this election cycle is people like me wanting to know more and gain a better perspective on the issues at hand - and that is a pretty good start!

This beautiful copy was given to me (among others like it, I get a few of them each year) by my wonderful mom-in-law this past Christmas. It is always such pleasure reading from these beautiful copies, which are, in addition to being among "the world's best reading", reminders of how I am loved. Yes, I am having a nice Saturday morning :-)

Charles got me this book for Christmas to aid in my Urdu reading. I have made enough progress in learning the Urdu script that I can make out some words and read simple phrases. I hope to get a lot out of this book in the next year as I make progress in my reading ability.
