I had really high hopes for this as it started so well. Quickly ground to such a slow pace I was bored and moved on to another book. May pick back up. May not.

Almost halfway and I’ve decided to switch to the book from the audiobook. Listening to it highlights a lot of redundancies I could smooth over by reading.

2024: That was quick. 15 pages in and I’m scanning the reviews here to confirm a decision to quit.

50%! That’s how long before a murder. Six hours! Good grief.

Four and a half hours in and no one has been killed. Months are going by in the narrative. What the even heck?

I may or may not finish this one. I have just now checked out the second book that has come in from the library while this one, which is also borrowed from the library, is still not finished.

I never thought I could be so bored in Three Pines. Soooo much talking and thinking around the same points. At least when they are talking to each other it is funny from time to time. This is a struggle.

I’m a long way into this but am not really feeling connected to the story. Another book came in from a long hold so I decided to put this down. May or may not finish it when it comes back around.

I need a break from this book for a few days. How am I not even half way through yet?

Sometimes you just gotta supernatural YA for fun, you know?

Not sure if I will finish or not but definitely putting aside for a bit. It’s interesting but sometimes it has way too many details about the horrible thinks psychopaths did to people. Can’t tell us I like the author’s narration or if don’t. And, most of all, do I need another five plus hours of this?

I decided to switch to audio for this one. It’s beautiful and I think I will be able to absorb more by listening since I tend to skim a bit and miss the full impact of the language when I read.

As I wait for Gamache and his team to figure out why an AA member who had burned a lot of bridges in the past might have shown up at a former friend’s house unexpectedly, can I just say this is as frustrating as when I was supposed to not know what KKK might mean in a Sherlock Holmes story? Of course, at the time that was written, the KKK was not well known. What the devil is the excuse for not understanding AA?

What is in the attic already?!!??

This is so good I’m already looking to buy copies to have on hand as gifts.

At this rate, the library loan will expire before I finish and take the decision of finishing or not out of my hands.

Didn’t even realize when I picked it up that I had tried it once before. Igor is still hard to read and maybe is why I have put this aside again and have picked back up yet another book I had set aside not a week ago. Will I ever finish a book that is not an audio book again?!?

Trying again. I’m beginning to think it’s not the books…it might be me. Doesn’t take much and I’m falling asleep no matter what.

This is an interesting book-I really appreciated the section about the evangelical push to be extroverted in all things. Now a bit over halfway through it is starting to feel like a statistics laden slog. Hoping friends who have read will encourage me to either quit or finish…

Put it down for five nights and first night back I made it a whopping ten pages before zzzzzz. What is going on? Is it me or the book?

I am finding this to be very slow going and a wonderful sleep aid. I don’t want to give up on this series so I’m going to put it aside for a few days and will see if I decide to come back to it or quit later.

Just curious: does Duncan ever catch a case at his actual workplace? ;-)

About midway through this book and a chapter where the author shares his experience going to the corner store in the midst of depression/anxiety is eye opening, scary, and unforgettable.

This book is definitely not recommended for any sexual assault survivors. Too much of such content here with way way too much detail given…not to mention what is at least somewhat, if not entirely, problematic about the analysis of the Sandusky, Nasser, and Turner cases.

Each week’s meditation practices take more and more time at one sitting: week 5 is just too much. Three meditations in a row totaling 26 minutes is just not something I want to try, especially since two are ones I have done ad nauseam in earlier weeks. One in particular on sound and thoughts has really gotten on my nerves. How can I focus on sound when you keep talking? I do love the mindful movement meditation.

This is a cute journal that is fun to work a page a day just for a break. EXCEPT there is a real bent toward dreaming about doing great things in the future as a way to reaching happiness.
