Struggling with this one!

Am partway through 200+ books at the moment. Need to mark most of these as 'abandoned...'

F*CKING HELL this is depressing and horrible. Especially after seeing the film. Not sure I can keep reading.

A reworking of TH White's reworking of Mallory's King Arthur cycle as grimy gang combat. It seemed promising to start with, but I'm ready to ditch it now. Wanders into Robert Rankin / Robert Nye tosh halfway through, which I don't mind normally, but by framebreaking repeatedly, it kills any affection for its mean antiheroes and any belief in the worldbuilding. Don't think I'll finish it.

Reading Saint-Exupery's autobiographical Wind, Sand and Stars, and it's just too intense! Like chewing salted lemons, I break after each page, overwhelmed. His was a life well-lived.

Wonderful selection of antique horror stories from great authors.

Ghoulish and gothic, like Otranto and Phineas Fogg mingled with Kafka's The Castle and Erehwon.

Astounding invention but puerile humor. So far I'm rather bored.

Graham Greene's The End of the Affair really is the most enjoyably writerly book - with contradictory bits of Hammett and Ford Madox Ford.

Currently reading two pages of this a day. Should be done by mid-2015. Reminds me of Garp.
