Started reading this again yesterday. Didnt like it at first but getting more invested (9/8)

This is my first book by this author duo and the writing is soooooo baaaaaaad….

Sometimes I really hate the female characters in these books. The way they use s*x in an aggressive way irks me. Especially considering what some of these male partners have been through. Claire thinks she’s being generous when in reality she’s not listening to his words.

This book is so fun! The plot is not predictable at all and even tho it’s “dark” it’s also silly and light at the same time in a way that really works

Aoife is not my fave 😅 she is a supportive girlfriend but also cringe and annoying

Ok back to feeling like this book is boring

Things are slightly better. The beginning was rough since they have a history and you’re just told their feelings but dont see much interesting interaction in the page.
The last 50ish pages you experience their dynamic more which helps the attraction feel more warranted

3/10 - Disappointed that im finding this book boring. I feel nothing for the “chemistry”. Nothing….

I find it really distasteful how Aoife uses s*x in situations where Joey is clearly upset and in distress about his family. I assume it’s supposed to be seen as her comforting him but to me it feels icky and gross. I would think it would make the intimacy awful due to associating it with bad experiences that Aiofe is connecting the s*x to. It truly makes me dislike her in those moments.

Victor is so unlikeable. He is a whiny complainer who takes no action to right what he sees as his wrongs.

At page 158 we get a confirmation that she’s 20. Thank gawd! I like to know the ages way earlier 🙃

Bodice ripper-esque. Strange age gap press dynamic but I’m gonna try to mentally age her up more to make it less weird but it’s challenging. Plot is still fun in its own way. The Duke is kinda creepy tho. He def has a ton of red flags for modern time
