Me: "I think I'll preach on Malachi!"

Malachi: lol have fun with 2:15

I done got sick. So as a mercy to my sore throat, the kids and I are taking a break from George MacDonald and listening to an audiobook instead. And what better for spookem season than a bit of Dahl?

Later than ideal, but through the OT.

Re-reading this with a group of seminary friends.

So far, this might be the most helpful resource I'm reading on Malachi.

It's just occurred to me, several weeks in, that I haven't "told" Goodreads I'm reading this. This book is incredible.

'Tis spookem season.

Something I've been thinking about lately: Gibson prefers diachronic, "author-oriented" criteria for determining what inner-biblical connections are relevant for interpreting a given text. But I think there's a case to be made that the doctrine of inspiration, with its implication of dual authorship, may provide theological grounds for a synchronic approach that treats two texts as mutually dependent.

One thing's certain: Verhoef is thorough. 14 pages into the commentary and we're just now getting to Haggai 1:4!

Preparing to preach through Malachi, and then reading the section on Haggai for personal edification.

Reading for the class on the law I'm teaching.

And on page 420 of my edition, no less.
