Loving the second person and self-help conceits at ply here. Surprisingly effective and affecting.

One of my goals for 2017 was to read more diversely. This morning I reviewed my count. And I largely fell short on this goal. Of the 33 books I read last year (another miss) the authors were:

Male: 22
Female: 11

White: 22
POC: 11

Fiction: 22
Nonfiction: 8
Poetry: 3

The sad thing is that these numbers are likely an improvement over past years. Going to push hard to avoid falling into familiar reading habits.

I am supremely confused and loving it.

Russell's prose is amazing here. The novella might be here ideal form - all the weight of her novel with the targeted pace of her stories. Can't wait to finish this one tonight.

Dear God, this collection is good. First two stories have both made me cry. Excited to see what the rest holds.

I'll probably finish this at work today. While the readers of this audiobook have grown on me, the story hasn't. It always felt thin and when I get to the big reveal/twist I was only exasperated. Compared to the delightful darkness and Southern Gothic homage that is Flynn's incredible first novel Sharp Objects, this one just feels rather dull.

It's entertaining, but it feels like something is missing or needs shored up. I just can't put my finger on it.

I'm intrigued, but this one is pretty "meh" so far. Sharp Objects was far stronger, and I believe that was her first novel.

I hadn't read any of Snyder's work in a while. Dear god I forgot how wonderful his writing is.

This is a damn good book. Narration is focused like a laser sight.

Forgot how much I love King's style of narrative - it's like sitting down into an old, familiar chair.
