It really hurts my heart that I didn’t narrate this book.

I bet you when Tolkien first finished writing Gandalf’s stand against the Balrog and the company’s escape from Moria, he felt like a freaking badass.

I’m INTO this book so far. I love the premise, partly because it’s risky and I could see it going wrong. But it’s fun, and if they pull it off, this could be really cool. Also, this cast is my favorite of the three, and the way they use EQ and sound effects to shift in time and geography is masterful.

Also, I should say. I’m listening to the full cast dramatization, and I think it’s clear pretty massive edits and changes have been made to Christopher Golden’s text to suit the medium. So my snoozing and snoring all over this one is no disrespect to his original story.

Well good lord this is dull so far.

Getting to the only part I didn’t enjoy last time - Tom Bombadil. Let’s see if 15 years has changed my feeling on this at all.

I had almost forgotten how beautiful the language is:
