"the enchantment" was okay. interesting concept, read a bit unfinished though, a 3,5 out of 5 for me

this starts with things have gotten worse since we last spoke which i LOVED and rereading it makes me love it even more, knowing what's coming. CHILLS

apart from the whole odd language choices thing (bc they *do* keep coming, someone involved definitely grew up in the states... if i didn't see croatian names, i'd think an american just used google to set their book abroad), the plot is folding out with excellent pace, the characters feel very realistic, i've for sure met these people under different names LOL

I *am* having fun and I appreciate the book being set in Croatia however the author/editor used *extremely* US-Am language at places it's absurd, no one in Europe calls it "college" or freely quotes the 1991 Hannibal movie. Also "pouring down like Judgement day"... Like... okay...

reading this in bulgarian is fascinating to me mainly because my korean is at a can-barely-read level and while i do know a couple words, it never occured to me that korean has family terms as specific as bulgarian?! and the way the story is told, most characters aren't named, they're referred to as their relationship to the narrators, e.g. the wife, the father-in-law, etc

I'm really enjoying every single short story and trying to savor the next but it's so hard!! I have only 3 left :(

fine, i'll pay a slightly ungodly amount of money to buy this book in physical form. it's like, i thought i'd like it, had it on the back burner for a while for no reason, and now that i'm diving into it, i'm LOVING it. so simultaneously fascinating and gruesome!!!

This book is very dreary, and that's a compliment! The narrator's thoughts are eerily similar to my inner monologue sometimes and I should probably find that more disturbing than I do lol
