Because I looked at the title and assumed it would be another too- cute -for- me cozy mystery, I wasn't sure about it but I finally started and I'm loving it -if anyone has read Linda Barnes Carlotta Carlisle series, I believe this has the same vibe , but even better writing! This is a great combo of a New York police procedural and an excellent amateur sleuth trope so far it's excellent

I've delayed reading/listening to this ever since it came out. With highly rated psych. thrillers, I like to wait to check it out to delay the satisfaction. Really, great thrillers are few and far between, when they do make a splash, the next million thriller releases are bad copycats like the Gone Girl era, then nothing seems good after the first 2 or 10 . I'm happy I held out for a rainy day. it's great so far!!

Wow!! -halfway in and I'm glued, I have to finish this. The audiobook is excellent.. Ruth Mancini is now on my favorites list, can't wait to find out what's going on 🤩😛

just started, I'm doing a buddy read (listen actually) with my mom. I'm excited to listen today I've got a lot of time to get it half done or close to half.

I love Peter Swanson's work and I also love the vibe of 50s thrillers (like Patricia High Smith) ,so far this has that. I have a feeling I won't be sleeping much tonight. The good news is I'm listening to the audiobook ( which is great),so I can get house work done. I love this feeling that I have a lot to read/listen to of a book that I've had in sights for several months.

I decided to read a hardcopy instead of an audio on this one and it's going much better, I just like epistolary style in that format for this author

I hadn't even heard that this was coming, so I'm really excited -i just started listening to the audio, hopefully it's as good as a couple of her other novels... more to come

Swanson hasn't disappointed me yet and this one is no exception, so far it's keeping me entertained and I'm very curious!

I originally DNF'd this, was disappointed feeling that I didn't give it enough of a chance,now that 'the Mystery Writer' is out thought I'd retry , although they both have kind of mid to low ratings,a story within a story is one of my fave tropes, and it's going better this time around. Just started listening, this looks super intriguing to me as I am an AKG fan and appreciate someone who could take the time to create something like this.

This is a read for a little book club my mom, sister and I have. So far it's a little slow but it's just getting us into characters. I've liked the author's past work so I'm hoping this is at least interesting, especially because it's my pick😏

This one doesn't come out until July 11, but for some reason my mobile app won't let me comment on books unless I mark "reading - update progress" . The premise intrigued me as I've never read anything with the subject being language translation. With the evil twist that's implied this might be a good read.

I can't wait to dive into this one - I had to read the premise after seeing an article that said "this book is not what it sounds like" once I read the full description I pre ordered it!

I know one of the points of this book is the ridiculous barriers women faced (still face) but I may not be wired for this particular story, I just feel too frustrated, I think it's going to be a great story but I end up feeling tense after reading (listening) for an hour. I'm pretty sure that feeling will change throughout the book though I absolutely love that we get 630's POV.

Waited for this book from my library's Libby app. for quite awhile I was really excited about it but I'm pretty sure I figured out at least one twist almost right away, I'm almost done and it feels like it's been dragging for a very long time now hopefully the end is redeeming.

Crimereads wrote an article "Queer mysteries and thrillers to read all year long", this one (actually the 2nd in the series was featured" Survivors Guilt) was listed and I'm really liking the MC so far, the narration is good. I'm only an hour or so in -10hr long- so it's early, but it's a good companion for my chores, so far!

Getting ready to listen to it, anthologies and short stories have just been my jam lately and I really liked Ford County, it's funny, I don't read/listen to any of his other new releases, I just like his short stories much better. Review to follow.

I wanted to check this low rated book out because it's so weirdly represented on here- it was first released as 'the Watcher' and I don't see any reviews yet for either title, also the author is the husband of Catherine Steadman, who wrote Mr Nobody, Something in the Water, and stars in Downton Abbey. This book is narrated by her- I'm just curious.

So far it's quite good. I'm listening to the audiobook on loan from my local library's Libby app, and am very grateful that I didn't have to buy it! I think some parts feel very predictable, but we will see. It's an intriguing story so far and narration is very good. I do hope it isn't as predictable as it appears to be..

I think this book is extremely well narrated and it's getting more interesting by the minute this may end up being one of my favorites of this year,I'm really loving the way the story is being told. Intriguing.

I'm listening to this and about an hour and a half in. It's very intriguing, narration is very good so far there's at least 2 different narrators doing 2 characters very well. I'm not sure I'll be getting much sleep tonight, it's too good to put down. Glad I have nothing planned for tomorrow:). I've been waiting for awhile for this to come out, so happy to be able to finally listen to it

So so so good review to follow. I listened to this through Hoopla my library allows freebies that don't count as a borrow which is wonderful because they only let me borrow THREE books/ audiobooks/ movies I feel like I got a late Christmas present when I saw this on the freebie list. It is a 💎 and I'm already scrambling to get more of his translated books.

Only 40minutes in and I'm already loving this cozy mystery- especially after getting through 'The Appeal'- this is just the ticket for a comforting bedtime read. I admit if I hadn't just read the Appeal I might find this too cutesy, but it's definitely well done and working for me now ❣️

Anthologies and short stories are my jam lately-no matter how interesting a book is I just don't seem to be able to finish anything. I've never experienced this before. I used to be able to read 300,400 page books daily now I can't seem to finish one. these are great this collection so far is pleasing I'm listening to the 2nd story now the first was very good about an hour and a half, twisty, satisfying.

Just wondering why the heck I didn't start this book before now. Wow it's great. Narration is amazing , I do get thrown off every time the words "again" or "been" come up as it's a very Canadian pronunciation of both words, it's really noticable. Doesn't matter or affect my enjoyment, it's just amusing. Can't wait to finish and check out more from her.

I'm liking this so much more than I liked the first one- so far the audio is perfect as is everything else. Joyce's Instagram username is making me lol. I'm relieved this one is so much better for me than the first one as it was a disappointment and I'm pretty sure it was a "me" thing- timing, mood, expectations, etc. Thanks to my library's Libby app I was able to get this as soon as it came out, unusual & lucky!!
