The book only gave me a glimpse of Josie and Matt’s juvenile relationship, but from how she’s hurting at the hospital thinking about him you’d say they’d spent a lifetime together. It’s a but strange. I also feel like this book is written for the largest crowd possible. There’s so many characters and so many POVs it feels like it wants to cater to everyone.

“That may be so. I had hoped, as a broadcaster, to be merely ludicrous, but this is a hard world to be ludicrous in, with so many human beings so reluctant to laugh, so incapable of thought, so eager to believe and snarl and hate. So many people wanted to believe me!
Say what you will about the sweet miracle of unquestioning faith, I consider a capacity for it terrifying and absolutely vile.”

I like the plus-sized format 😄
“My [12-year-old] daughter was like me, not just in likeness but in disposition, too: she held her intelligence like a knife behind her back. Now that she was creeping toward womanhood, I found our similarities a bit unnerving. Like watching a clone of myself walk slowly toward me from a faraway point in the distance. What would happen when she arrived?”

I’ve only just started and there was one thing that bothered me.

“Peter never crowed or condescended, he was judt guilelessly better than…”

And then 2 pages later

“This was just like Peter. Condescending, even when ostensibly just asking for clarification.”

I’m still excited to read on, but this is a bit silly.
