I'm getting too irritated reading this book. I'm not going to finish.

Where does the MC get his money? He's a medically discharged Army Ranger from a poor family. He doesn't appear to have a job and yet he just dropped an estimated two or three hundred thousand dollars on 20 some shotguns and several pallets of ammo!!! He already had dozens of rifles and pistols so where did he get the money? Maybe he won the lottery.

I have to admit, I was worried I wouldn't like The Lord of the Rings books because I've only read modern fantasy, but so far I'm really enjoying it. Now there are some parts I find only mildly interesting such as the time the hobbits went through the Old Forest and the time they spent with Tom Bombadil. It wasn't bad, but I can understand why they didn't include it in the movie.
