As it SHOULD, because diverting good-quality items away from low-income communities who could most benefit from nice things at bargain prices all bc you want to get as much money as possible out of items you got for FREE is a SCUMMY THING TO DO.

Interesting book, but man this guy is not critical enough towards big companies like Goodwill. Goodwill literally tells him "Yeah we ship more expensive, higher-quality clothing to Goodwill boutiques in rich communities so we can get more money for them and we save the cheaply made, lower-quality clothing for Goodwills in low-income neighborhoods" and he just accepts it

This book is so beautiful and bittersweet. So many traditions are dying due to globalization and assimilation, and while it is wonderful to learn more about these traditions, my heart aches to know they may disappear forever.

I love Abel so much, but I'm not looking forward to this becoming the romance it lauds itself as. I'd rather it be a begrudging buddy cop story than romance.

The world building is pretty good so far, and for some reason the whole space theme is giving me mad "Guardians of the Galaxy" vibes (but with less bright colors, talking raccoons, and Chris Pratt).

I honestly feel like Mal and Alina's relationship is super unhealthy on both sides. There's no trust and everything is an argument. Am I, as the reader, supposed to be shipping this? Because I'm not.

Nikolai is my favorite and I love him so much

Currently not a big fan of the overt YA tropes being used so far (we get it, Alina, you're a poor plain girl with super special unique powers who has feelings for both your childhood friend and the mysterious brooding second in command to the king).

However, I AM a huge fan of a fantasy country heavily drawing from Russia. :D

This book is way better than I expected. I'm hooked and so excited to review this and give it the 4-5 stars it deserves.

Jagged Peak is honestly the worst and I really hope he gets a better character arc than being a bratty, disobedient kit.

I can't wait to read this! I've been waiting to read this biography ever since I finished Chernow's Hamilton biography. Chernow just has such a cinematic way of describing the lives of historical figures and I love it.

This was so much fun! I'm not usually that into DC, but I absolutely loved the depiction of Clark, Bruce, and Diana as little kids.
