Thomas is starting The Iron Heel
Sometimes you just know a book is going to be a favourite. And other times the protagonist spends the first chapter arguing with idealist priests using historical materialism (crudely interpreted, though). This is both.

I suspect this is going to wind up being one of the best, if not the best, introduction to Marx I have read.

The chapter on Employment, aggregate demand and the labour market was quite insightful. It makes neo-classical and Austrian theories of real wage-price flexibility look almost willfully foolish.

The chapter on monetary circuits is one I'll have to re-read. All the other chapters are pretty easy, although there's a brief section that's hard - on firms. The central bank/ interest rate graph is really helpful and clear.

I'm rather afraid Rawls' theory rests on some tricky question begging and some masked assumptions about tradition. He offers no reason to choose Liberalism, although it happens to be dominant - while conceding that much debate is to be had. That it is dominant is quite different from some notion of its ought to being dominant

Cohen is really good at this. This book is a delight to read.
