I’m struggling a bit with this despite being quite intrigued by the world and the characters. One of the MCs experiences a lot of on-page abuse and cruelty as a child. Listening to the audiobook.

I’m listening to the audiobook, and it has moments when I’m chuckling out loud but I don’t know it seems kind of boring? Maybe it me and I’m not paying enough attention but I need more chemistry in a slow burn then two people just thinking the other one is cute.

It’s just feeling kind of dull. And also if you have a world where magic is the norm, why would you keep the American healthcare system as it is today?!? Also if you have a spirit that can take any corporeal form it wants why would you have all kinds of gender essentialism?? I’m so bored of “his presence was so MALE” and “feminine and masculine” BS. I’ll probably DNF but we’ll see.

I’m almost 80% into the audiobook and I don’t know if I care enough to finish. It might partly be that I’ve had some preoccupying stuff going on in my life, but I don’t know. The main characters are kinda cute and say some mildly amusing and/or poignant things now and again, but I’m just not that into it somehow

I’m approaching halfway and I’m still waiting for something to happen. Maybe the research notes of an encyclopedia just aren’t a great source of plot. Suspect this is not for me

This is a very well crafted book but I’m probably going to DNF it. Partly bc it’s not really my genre but mostly bc there’s on-page child abuse

I’m not sure about this book. Early on Tess was quite unlikable and also there’s some pretty terrible fatphobia. I stuck with it because unlikable FMCs are interesting but I’m just not getting drawn into the story.

Listening to the audiobook. The MMC is kind of misogynistic and has several “not like other women” thoughts, and there’s a sexual assault that feels a bit like fridging. But I’m interested enough to keep going for a bit at least

I didn't get into it before someone put a hold on it and I couldn't renew it anymore.

I didn't finish but I got about three quarters of the way through. I really enjoyed it and plan to read it again. I'm not sure it was the best book to be my first on chicken keeping. Seemed kind of advanced.
