Haji loves "germane".

Everytime I think ze is getting all high-and-mighty on us, ze makes some awesome little joke (often self-deprecating) and I love hir again :) Very insightful and really well-written

Lots of unchecked privilege here. The author seems to think, for example, that anyone who wasn't a debutante lives on a farm?? Excepting one Jewish woman, everyone seems pretty white, too. This isn't to say that what she was doing and when she was doing it isn't significant or noble; it's just that, with these political faults, I'd at least like some skilled prose.

SO. GOOD. Constantly resisting the temptation to read the plot summary online ... it's just so damned suspenseful!

I was a little skeptical because I found the original movie a little slow-paced and this is a fairly long novel, but I'm really enjoying it

The ending of the first story made me all teary-eyed! I'm really enjoying it so far.

I'm torn between finding this book sensitive and insightful and painfully boring.

Besides the intelligence and honesty of the narrator, I am struck by how much he talks about BREASTS. He really likes them.
