This is a great book and written by a Cuban American Professor and Historian who resides in New York.

This book is weird. Still at it.

I am reliving this administration. My question is where are the sources? Most of what I am reading I already knew.

Ok, so I put it down and read humor.
This is too real in today's world.
Will start again today.

Struggling to remain engaged. Kind of slow.

Painfully putting myself through this book. For each valid point there is the political indoctrination that follows. I shall finish! To be continued....

I am reading this again. I never read a book twice but this I will. Last read it in 1998.

while I can see the validity of a term for the behavior described I find that asshole is not a title or name that can be used with all populations. Seems like the author wanted a shocking , sellable title.

Great character development and story of immigrants in America. Guilt, responsibility and communication run as underlining themes for me.
Sad to see such a great loving person experience what he did at the end.
Arturo was such a truly forgiving man.

It's lyrical and poetic. It's not fast food and needs to be enjoyed and savored.
Unfortunately, because I had an assignment due ,I had to rush through it.
