Feminism in Cuba during the 1800's. Dr. Maria Luisa Dolz opening a secular school to educate women for leadership in society. Also believed in "physical training" to make women stronger "for private and public life". I like her thinking! Of course, there is Carlos de Velasco,a Cuban statesman, who feared "education would produce masculine men" As if femininity were truly that fragile.
