This is such a slog. Luckily it’s not very long.

Shadow Land is a DNF 😢. Nearly 100 pages in and just couldn’t bring myself to care even a little. I liked Ghost Story but this wasn’t for me.

This really feels like a collection of thousands of tiny jokes stapled together to form the vague outline of a narrative. I’m going to press on because I don’t want to DNF two books in a row but man, my reading mood is in the gutter right now after the low that was King Sorrow.

King Sorrow by Joe Hill is a DNF. Just couldn’t fathom reading 600+ more pages of that. I was expecting so much better from the author of N0S4A2, one of my favorite horror novels. The characters were unlikable, the villain was laughable and his summoning felt unearned (who knew you could summon an interdimensional dragon if you just got high really high and drunk?) and the story was threadbare.

Uh, now eventually you might have horror in your horror book, right? Hello? Yes?

Been busy lately and haven’t felt compelled to read. This book is okay but it’s really not gripping me. A murder story where you’re told who the murderer is? Odd choice. I suppose the characters are supposed to carry this but they really aren’t doing it for me. This may be a DNF

Kinda lame that Goodreads deletes all posts related to a book when you remove it from your list. Anyway, Dinosaur Summer is a DNF. Big fan of dinosaurs but this book, somehow, made them boring. Maybe it’s time for a Jurassic Park reread?? 🤔
