Definitely well written but it’s far from the most interesting novel I’ve read. Very dry. I don’t feel particularly compelled to read on but I don’t think it’ll be a DNF.

This really feels like a collection of thousands of tiny jokes stapled together to form the vague outline of a narrative. I’m going to press on because I don’t want to DNF two books in a row but man, my reading mood is in the gutter right now after the low that was King Sorrow.

King Sorrow by Joe Hill is a DNF. Just couldn’t fathom reading 600+ more pages of that. I was expecting so much better from the author of N0S4A2, one of my favorite horror novels. The characters were unlikable, the villain was laughable and his summoning felt unearned (who knew you could summon an interdimensional dragon if you just got high really high and drunk?) and the story was threadbare.
