I saw a post on stackexchange, and ended up reading this book. It really helps me connect the dots, especially the concepts that I memorized (but doesn’t understand when learning CS). Many inventions at the beginning are just new and cool things, whether it will be used broadly, that really depends on whether a good use case can be found, like the use of binary codes in computer.

I am re-reading this book again. The brain is very smart, it only remembers the things we use. When it comes to mastering some abstract concepts, my experience is that you probably need to repeat it five to six times. There are a number of books that I re-read every year, just 2-3 hours to refresh the mind and active recall.
