I am not normally a “pick up a book of poetry for the fun of it” kind of person, but Laura Wifler is a gifted poet and her poetry is beautiful. Poignant, funny, relatable, realistic, hopeful.

English professor Claire McCabe said that “when it comes down to it, poetry can help us to be more human and remind us of what really matters.”

That perfectly describes “This Side of the Sky”.

“The default setting for women in our current culture is overwhelmed, but that doesn’t have to continue to be our reality. We don’t have to keep consenting to live distracted, confused, and mentally exhausted.”

Normally I don’t do in-process updates, but choosing to go through this book slowly and really process/work out Jess’s questions. It is worth the read IF you are ready to reflect/make changes!
