I like the premise, I just think the book tries to be too chatty for my liking. I would have wanted to finish a book like this in a continuous 10 day period, 15 days max but its just impossible. It's not a subject that people would gravitate towards reading so the book needs to be written in simple language. Which this is. But I feel like the sentences often run on and i forget what i have read like 5 mins back.

I really want to enjoy this book. The initial few pages were breezy, but as we get deeper into the book it's making too many philosophical and literary references I can't grasp cause I don't know those. It's impairing my readability of the book because I really want to immerse myself but have to stop to figure out the allegories and references. The prose also feels a tad dry. Have set the book aside for now

This book honestly feels hugely overrated for reasons beyond my comprehension. I literally cannot focus and it just keeps on dragging.

Fascinating

The writing is so breezy, just like Born a Crime. Pages are just turning themselves. And I love the fact that this is by another back of the pack runner- resonates so deeply.

I definitely felt this was a better book than #1 but I still feel that the book was a bit repetitive. I am yet to reach the end but nevertheless.

Ah well. Not going to be my top reads. I can tell that by how quickly I am reading it.

It is not bad. But having only read Murakami for Japanese literature, this is evidently not Murakami level translation. It is also not about a mysterious chef assassin. So there's that.
