Tumelo Moleleki is on page 163 of 192 of Le roitelet
Another reference to the title was made where the mentally disturbed brother's spirit or soul was said to have taken refuge in a bird perched on a nearby tree to where some disgruntled workers who were protesting were subduing him because he started throwing apples at them thinking they were gathered to attack him... This book is a collection of disparate vignettes of this sane brother's life with his crazy sibling

The way the French language is able to deliver such solid understanding to me and create vivid pictures of simple scenes always amazes me because this is like a language I acquired as at least a 7th or 8th in my life but I command it better than Afrikaans that I was taught in school.

This was a long chapter, probably as long as another earlier one, but I think it is sufficient to just read the last two chapters tomorrow.

Today's two chapters were read. The reading also brought calm during a stressful day and provided an escape for the mind getting bogged down with the dangers of answering our phones when we hope the call might be for a desirable and solicitous source.

I didn't like these two chapters much, I felt the writer was taking his liberties too far, something he has gradually been doing, being more and more daring in his mockery of these women that are his characters, but we still found ourselves laughing so I don't know what that says about us. I'm trying not to be insufferable and make a big deal of everything but they are too used to feeling at liberty about us bana

It would seem I have read 10 pages since the last time I made an update on this book. Anyway, it was on page 83 that I realised that I have misgendered the narrator in the story. I thought they were female, thus the sister to the mentally disturbed brother, and when they had a spouse who was female I thought they were a sapphic couple and so I went on believing that I was reading that kind of storyline this that page

So it was on page 118 that I was to begin reading. I have not read the next chapter because I started with the other book and now I have something to say about that book which I don't want to postpone till after I have read the other books I am concurrently reading it with. Since this one records less pages than are evidently in the copy I have, I deducted 10 from the page number to make this update

I read two chapters here, one yesterday and one today but I forgot to note down the page, so I will update it tomorrow after reading a chapter again.

I started reading this yesterday, reading it out loud to my aging sister who is recovering from a spell with her diabetes going haywire on her and on us by extension. We have both enjoyed what I have read so far. It's a library book so one chapter a day might get us to the due date if it has thirteen chapters or less but if there are more, we may have to up the quota or risk needing to renew one book, embarrassing!

Buka ya nnena di tloha feela! DNF!
How can a white author purporting to write a story centering a black person and their life experience call a place where this character and others like him live, Kaffraria? Sies! And this writer was being praised on TT by a black reader. I guess the self hate is really strong in anyone that admires a person who belittles them and those like them. This book is offensive

Gosh, I'm tired of this story already and I am only 10% in. So much detail about things that I find mundane and I just don't find any of the characters likable or to be sympathised with. I was mainly kept by the story of this Charlie Fraser but even that novelty has worn off and it just feels like I am torturing myself. I will DNF and start the other book since they must all 3 be read in 3 weeks or get renewed

This one holds my interest better than the other. As usual, when white writers include our languages in their writing, they don't bother with the correct way of doing so, they just wing it and the world applauds them for being inclusive and generous in their inclusivity...
