AND he’s suffering from the smirking affliction. Sigh. WHY?

This just could not keep my attention. To the DNF shelf

I knew nothing about this book going in, just that it came highly recommended. And so far, it’s been such a pleasant surprise! It’s intriguing, and I love love LOVE the playful language. Let’s see where this takes me. :)

It is December 27, 2025 and I have just finished the best book I have read this year. Holy fuck. What a ride. This book simply has it all. From the sharp, clear, precise language to the world building and the magic, to the plot twists, to the MCs that are so, so well suited to each other, to that devastating last word. I would very much for book two to get here sooner, but I’ll have to settle for 2026. Go read this.

33%. Still enjoying the hell out of this book. Not much time to read, as I am currently on a skiing holiday in Austria (wheee!), but reading as soon as I get home from the slopes each afternoon. These MCs are just so uniquely suited to each other! It’s gorgeous.

Really liking this one so far. Proper tension between the fmc and the mmc. But for the love of all that’s holy. WHAT’s with al the ‘that’ and ‘those’ when a simple ‘the’ and ‘it’ would have sufficed? It is driving me bonkers.

DNF. I know other people rave about this, and it was fine in the beginning, but after a while, the hero worshipping got on my nerves. Yeah, we know he is gorgeous. Sheesh. Maybe I’ll return to this one day, when I am bored and I don’t have anything else to read or any video games monopolising my free time. For now though? Nope.

I’m a bit on the fence about this one. I liked the last part of the book, when things started to pick up. The first parts… they dragged. Repetitive, and the Jonas romance got on my nerves quickly. Things were just so… obvious. I know the big point of the book is having a soft heroine, but my goodness. There is soft and then there is whining. She only grew a backbone towards the end. Leaning towards 3,5 stars.

Dammit. This book is awesome. A breath of fresh air in a - let’s face it - fairly stale genre by now.

WHY did this series have to go the YA route after this book? Why??

Well. I don't know if I will finish this one, seeing as it has been on my Curently Reading-list forever and I have read multiple books since. I loved the author's previous book. This one, not as much.

Actually, I'm about halfway through - pages are different on an ereader. LOVING the story and Carr's witty prose, as usual!
