91: the example of pathos is when he states that all his wife sleeps next to the shade of a dead man every night. This example makes you feel worried for his relationship with his wife.

The conflict of the story is that during their last test they couldn’t move the man when he got shot. They worked on plenty of things to move him and the sergeant was yelling at him to keep him moving.
“Would I leave him to die on the battlefield”(43).

“The elevator was slow and predictably foul-smelling, as if to warn anyone coming into the building not to expect too much” (95). The word choice the author uses is descriptive, and also sets the mood perfectly.

This book is complicated right now at this point. Since amity and sorrow’s mother is randomly driving away from their life without a say. Also the mother doesn’t seem to care for the daughters.

In this story the author is possibly warning you about your actions and what you do, because in the book there are microphones all around and anyone could be listening of whats going on.

Yes propaganda controls the citizens of society with the poster of big brother stating, “ Big Brother” is watching you. The citizens are perceived to be under constant surveillance because the thought police is always watching and have tiny cameras hidden.

I think the intentions the founders had was to have everyone specialize in something they like or specialized in something they knew they’d be good at. Also another intention I thought they had was the citizens need to focus on their own well being. They went wrong because of those specific people who do not want to focus.

At this moment I see the government as the villain but I also feel like Winston could be a villain as well. Yes Winston has gone against rules but is he really effecting the community The government is seen as a villain because it has rules that are useless.

I feel concerned for my protagonist. He was angry at this brown haired girl due to being so pretty, and not being able to take her to the bed. Winston does not have control over his body whatsoever. Sometimes he has no control on what to do, like when he was in the two minute hate session he controlled himself for a bit until he noticed he actually joined everyone.

The book was already into depth about how the place was built and what the rules were. I found it interesting how the book grabs your attention within a few pages.
