This book is a wild ride. Sure it’s YA material, but it’s a nice break from the intense reads I’ve had lately (looking at you, Grisham) and I can totally picture John Green writing this material and cracking himself up.

This entire book has been great, but this last 10% is kicking it up to an entirely new level!

This is the lowest target audience age of a book I’ve read (excepting bedtime stories) in awhile, but so far it’s entertaining. My favorite part, of course, is John Green’s writing style!

It pains me to stop reading for the night so close to the end of a book…

Nearly a third into the book, and this murder mystery is still missing a murder… but I have a feeling that’s about to change. Grisham’s story development here is so good.

Still interesting, and I think the main conflict of the story is clearly developed now. There are a lot of biased political opinions underlying the text, which breaks immersion a bit, (it’s not subtle at all) but I still plan to see it through.

I’m excited for this one. So far it’s good — I’m already coming up with theories of who the murderer is, and the crime hasn’t even been committed yet.

At the pace I’m making through this novella, I’m wondering how the story is going to resolve. It’s not perfect (there’s some interesting narrative elements hidden under a veil of science fiction, although that’s not unusual for the genre and is in fact often a great use thereof) but I’m definitely absorbed in the story — surprisingly, also in the characters. I couldn’t say that for the first chapters.

Suzanne Collins really likes her cliffhangers at the end of chapters.

Some of these stories make me sick to my stomach.

This is a shorter book than I’d realized beforehand. When I’ve actually able to find the time to read these past few days, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it — the format also makes pages seem to fly by quicker, as the page width is fairly short.

I’m excited to see where this story goes — the world and character development have been great so far!

I’ve only just started this novella, but already I’m quite intrigued. It’s different than anything I’ve read before, and the story seems like it’ll be interesting!

Listening to this audiobook, one might think both prosecution and defense in many courtrooms have no idea how to actually conduct justice; the same for both police/investigators and suspects/witnesses… just about everybody, really.

If the remaining eight accounts in this book are anything like the first two… this is a wild book. I recommend it… if you can stomach the disgusting crimes and the inexcusable actions of the prosecution.

I’m confident I have the majority of this book figured out at this point… but I’m still excited to see the final pieces come together in the end. 🐙

I wasn’t sure at the start where the story was going or how much I’d enjoy it — now the story is showing [a bit of] where it’s going, and I’m enjoying it more. It certainly is different from my usual reads, but it’s better than the first few chapters led me to believe!
