Pippa is investigating the alleged murder of a high school student from her school from a few years earlier as a senior project. She wants to try and find the truth. A few problems exist: the alleged murderer killed himself and they never found the body of the missing girl.

Xan, witch who lives in a forest is puzzled by the people of the Protectorate, who leave an infant in the woods once a year. Per tradition, The people sacrifice the child to prevent the witch from destroying them but the witch is not evil and protects each child, delivering it to a city to be adopted.

Paul has now become fully Fremen by challenging and killing Jamis. Jessica has become a Reverend Mother by drinking the poison water, surviving and accepting the previous Fremen reverend mothers into her consciousness. Paul is now in charge of the Fremen and has re-asserted his place as the Duke Atreides. He has "married" Chani, the daughter of the former Fremen leader and they have a son.

The Harkonnens are leaving Arrakis to be replaced by House Atreides who will now take over the desert planet and control the lucrative spice industry. Paul, the son of the Atreides family is tested by the Reverend Mother because his mother is a Bene Gesserit Lady, a group of female clerics that study mind control techniques and have a prophesy about a male, the Kwisatz Haderach. Paul passes the test.

Lily has just returned from her father’s funeral where she gave a eulogy (or actually didn’t) when she meets Ryle Kincaid on a rooftop. They have a brief, but memorable encounter but he leaves in a hurry and they don’t exchange information. Fast forward a few months and Lily is opening a flower shop with her inheritance and a random woman walks off the street and volunteers to work for free.

Just starting but the opening grabs you like a clock on a bomb by quickly counting down..."Twenty-seven hours before she decided to die..." There is an appreciation for the way the author weaves the layers of heartache and disappointment that leads Nora to make a decision about her life. Let's just say she has just entered the Midnight Library.

The story of Dr. Minor and his contribution to the OED is fully described, from his meticulous note-taking style to his relationship with Dr. Murray. At this point, the demons Minor has been fighting his entire life seem to be winning the battle.

The narrator (he doesn't remember his name at first) wakes up from a coma-like state to find he's on a spacecraft but he doesn't know why. He starts having memories that fill in the background as to who he is and why he is there.

Maybe the ultimate is nerdery, a book about the making of a dictionary. Probably wouldn’t be that exciting except for the fact that a murderer, institutionalized for life was the old-school version of the most prolific Wikipedia author that ever lived.

Grace, Maya and Joaquin are united when they find out they are sisters and brother. Grace and Maya had been adopted while Joaquin bounced around foster homes. After Grace goes through a traumatic experience she starts the search for her siblings and birth mom.

Isaacson has just finished recounting the battle for CRISPR patents and is now highlighting how Doudna and company are starting to use CRISPR to cure genetic diseases with simple genetic causes. The next chapter is titled "Biohacking" so I assume the slippery slop of gene editing will be explored.

Simon has died from the allergic reaction and Brownyn has been informed that everyone in the room will be getting one-on-one counseling. Also, she’s falling for the bad boy, Nate.

This part is the intro and Simon collapsed in class after drinking water.

Dani is caught up spying for La Voz and Mateo is becoming more threatening.

Dani is caught Carmen speaking to the gardener. Carmen thinks they are having a fling and doesn't know that Sota, the gardener is part of the rebellion.

Daniela (Dani) is a primera, a girl trained to be a support for her husband – help his career, organize his affairs. All the upper class men in Medio have two wives, a primera and a segunda. The segundas are emotional and dress fancier and have the kids. The entire society is an island with an upper class section and lower class section. It is a dystopia like Handmaid's Tale. Dani has been selected by Mateo Garcia.

This is a fictional world with primeras and segundas, two types of girls in this society.

So I didn't finish it, but I made great progress. Obama goes into depth about his military decisions, especially sending more soldiers to Afghanistan. Like everything in the book so far, it's complicated. He also ends up winning the Noble Peace Prize (he still doesn't know why) at the same moment that he ends up sending troops into war.
