Starting Volume II. . .

First story: Humoresque, by Fannie Hurst - Even the forward is astonishingly compelling... The story itself rises up out of the same world as Fiddler on the Roof, only once they landed in the new world. . .and is as heartbreaking as any. . .

!!!! Only a few pages in and already. I'm loving this book! An anthem for women of women and how fiber arts have been part of our anthem. . . Our herstory. . . How we've been telling our story through thread through the fibers we've been allowed to handle in a way that's been testifying of the valiant spirits we come from. . .!!!!

The cover of this book is the best depiction of Portland, Oregon I've ever seen! It captures so much of the valley and City I love and have lived in forever. It seems... The poems in here are told from a youthful perspective, which although I'm decades away from I totally get... Home.

Engaging memoir of life as preteens in pre-partition India with on a British company river barge (their father managed it?). . .authors are Rumer Godden and Jon Godden, both established authors in their own rights at the time of writing.

Excruciating. . .heartbreaking. . .I can only do a little at a time, in daylight.

This is such a hard book to read. I have to step away so much terrible traumatic truth is here... I am so hoping that all, everyone of those monsters are dead... Every everyday person who joined in inflicting the Carnage... Surely they are all gone now...?
