I can confidently say that Fred is my favourite writer. I plan to keep reading all his books back-to-back, and I’m nearly done with his entire collection.

By the time I got to Part 2 specifically “Brussels”the book really started to lose me. I’m hoping it picks up again because it’s getting quite boring, which is why it’s starting to feel more like a memoir or non-fiction.

I can’t help but wonder whether this is a memoir, based on a true story, or entirely a work of fiction.

In all my years as an avid reader, I’ve never been so blown away. Yesterday, I was honestly ready to close it, give it 5 stars, & not even continue to see how it ends. My heart breaks for Mazwi. He frustrates me because he can be so foolish, yet I have to remind myself that he’s just a child pushed into difficult circumstances. I wish for a sequel with a happier ending. Nathi Olifant is truly a brilliant storyteller.

Yoh, this book is stressing me out 😭😭I really hope Zethu is genuine because Delilah in the Bible was Samson’s downfall, and after that Maphumlo trip I don’t know what to think anymore. How can Mazwi be so stupid? 😭 😭 And his dad dropping that bomb?! Zenzele knew all along?? I’m on the edge of my seat… WHAT?! 😩😩, by the end of this book ill be dead no wayssss!!!

I’ve realised that the books that aren’t trending on Bookstagram are often the most enjoyable. There are so many hidden gems sitting quietly on the shelves at my local library. I decided to start choosing books blindly instead of judging them by the cover, and I’m honestly so glad I picked this one up I’m absolutely loving it.

but why do we as women sometimes settle in relationships where it feels like the other person can’t even stand us? I really hope Natasha doesn’t fall for that scam. Honestly, this book is so entertaining it feels like I’m watching a chick flick and I’m loving every minute of it.

t feels too slow for me and reads like a book I’ve encountered before, with too many similar themes. I’m starting to dislike this trend among some Nigerian authors not everyone needs to write like Chimamanda. I wish more writers would embrace their own unique style abeg.
