Very pleased with the explanation for "uncontrollable violent jealousy" trope in this one. Usually the MMC is just a red flag dick. This book explains it like a disease or ingrained instinct from a different species. Much more acceptable. Also "understanding cannot exist in only one direction". Love it, stop trying to force others to learn and accept your culture without reciprocating.

Finally! A fated mates done right! Ancient magic that binds souls but does not force attraction or love! Fated in most books is like "Oh yeah he's abusive but that's okay because we're mates" like it's a done deal no matter what. Or where attraction is forced which, for me, a supernatural power forcing you to want to have sex just sounds non-consentual.

after archer has literally told Saige that he's kissing her to seal a magic deal, twice. Once when he kissed her and once now, saige is literally shocked that he hasn't fallen in love with her. She says "I'm no fawning maiden, I know one kiss does not a lover make". Are you sure you're not a 15 year old maiden?! Because that's some stupid highschool shit, thinking one kiss means they're that into you.

*Saige literally after being magically teleported and archer tells her they don't need horses to travel* "how do you expect us to get there without horses? Do you plan for us to walk there?" And this is why he thinks you asks unnecessary questions you dumbass

Archer says to saige " this ordeal is going to take 10 times as long if you ask this many questions" heh I feel you man, I could say the same for this book.

Let's ignore the weird young adult book idea of sealing a deal with a kiss for a moment. Fmc stupidity yet again takes priority. Fmc says "oh i have to hurry! If i don't escape this prison my best friends will die! Oh what? A kiss with an Azkari? And bind a book for him and he'll save my friends? Hmmmm I dunno, sounds like it would inconvenience me and maybe my friends aren't that in danger while I stall"

Oh look another stupid question from FMC. She asks what happens if she breaks a bargain with a powerful being....you know like she did with the loan shark. Like she hasn't learned yet to stop making deals or that there are consequences for actions. Is she 35 or 15? Is she stupid or just like to talk that much? Is the author having fmc say stupid shit just to extend the length of the book?

*MMC antagonize prison guard, literally says take him instead. The next morning comes, MMC gone.* the FMC asks "who took him?" Um the guards you dumbass. The FMC asks "why did they take him?" Um because he literally told them to, which you witnessed, you colossal dumbass. Fmc even admits she knows who took him but still asks. Damn I already hate her

I see the FMC is gonna be stupid. Seriously? You didn't know the loan shark would target your friends? Oh you thought he would just kill you? Then he wouldn't get paid you idiot. Also, maybe this could've been avoided if ya communicate to your friends you idiot.

Finally! A FMC who doesn't immediately submit to the MMC! There's no insta-lust that immediately renders her docile or submissive and she's actually fighting and defying the MMC.

Nina really is annoyingly stupid. She jumps to conclusions so quickly then storms off like a child. Like "Oh no a guy who I have absolutely no romantic relationship with is hanging out with a prostitute i must fly off in a jealous rage to a much more dangerous man". There really is a stupid amount of jealousy in this book too for no reason. Like every member of the opposite sex is a threat to both max and Nina

The names in this really are cringe. Damian (classic, can't have a vampire story without it...*eyeroll*). Maxence just sounds like a highschool guy wanted to make his screen name cool but failed. "Ace" and "killer" being used as nicknames repeatedly is a bit annoying. Ace makes me think of a childhood cartoon featuring plane pilots

My problem is that Nina is so stupid. She literally just walks into danger. She literally says "he's so cordial and polite, his words polished. I wouldn't guess he's sadistic too". There is no way a woman who sells dead bodies is that dumb or innocent.

When asking your girlfriend for a threesome with a guy...don't phrase it like this "you don't have to participate. You can stop anytime" bc that sounds like you're gonna bang this guy despite what your GF thinks.
Also, don't ask her consent in front of the guy...that's just icky and peer pressure. A timid person may say yes just to avoid confrontation with a stranger

What a red flag relationship. Despite Jessi claiming consent and communication are important, she certainly doesn't communicate or get her girlfriend's consent before dancing with other people. Or taking her to sex clubs

For someone who talks about safety and consent, Jessi sure does like doing things that make her partner feel unsafe and without her consent. Yes it's Jessi's body and she should do what makes her happy but i feel like stripping in front of strangers without warning is at least a conversation with your partner who you live with. Not saying "no" isn't the same as saying "yes"

The next "dangerous" thing Jessi does? Answer the door for the pizza guy while naked....
