This is a must read for anyone who has wanted to read the Bible, but is overwhelmed by it.

Not much that wasn't already on the website. The section on fatherhood gives good advice, but nothing I didn't know. Seems like a book a father could read with teenage sons.

I'm reading along in this commentary each day with the Gospel readings of the ESV One Year Bible. So far, this is classic Giertz who style is brief and straight to the main point. In most sections he describes what the Biblical text says and adds geographical or historical detail. Some sections have dug a bit deeper by engaging the ancient cultural contexts that assist in understanding the text.

I'm rereading this book to prep for the daunting task of reading Taylor's "Secular Age." This will be my second attempt to pick up Taylor's tome.

I read this my junior year of high school. I just watched the movie for the first time in a long time and thought I would reread the novel as well.

Beginning to drag on a bit.
