1)everytime circe is in the presence of men she's romantically/sexually interested in, her autonomous, extremely interesting,magic weilding self devolves into a supliant, kind of infantile nature where all her attention would centre of the male mortal/god she's with at that time. it's a curious choice by madeline miller

dark depressing .sometimes pretentious. characters conversing in a way no one would irl but still really beautiful? yea

i am so happy to be reading japanese literature again after almost 3 years! the prose is simple and refreshing as always

back on my bullshit

sad to think that i have 100ish pages left to this book, and i am struggling to pick this up again.
i liked the parallel stories of Sara and Emilie, although they seemed quite similar at some points, both struggling for financial stability and trying to escape a turbulent past . All the characters surrounding them - apart from Grant and Spencer - are so uninteresting, their voices so similar and artificial.
