Hm. It took me this far to realize that I don't like a character who doesn't want to Learn. But let's see how it unfolds when Spades finally exited the game....

36 pages in, and it's already full of notes 😆 interesting bits: the book discussed how the term 'exile' is used and defined, and reading that really hit me how deeply the '65 genocide impacted Indonesia and, despite that, the govt seems to think that it was nothing.

The blurb at the back mentioned more discussion about the term—I look forward to read about it more.

I kinda love these descriptions at the start of each chapter?? I imagined if this is a manga, these would be drawn with light strokes, and tones that make them seem glowy and sparkly, with the descriptions written in small light-weighted serif fonts. And then it cuts directly to the scene with a fade-to-black and several small rectangles as a divider.

Rocky is definitely bossier in the book haha!

Ah no, I read Mist and Hui Tian in between! But it's also ages ago, so PHM is really the first sci-fi I've read in a while.

This far, the nerdy physics talking didn't deter me at all, it was cool actually. This explains why the film also bother to use physics terms, it's necessary!

So…..this book is getting scarier??????? I’m usually not the type to get easily spooked by written horror fiction but this book, damn????? I think it has something to do with the format…..
