36 pages in, and it's already full of notes 😆 interesting bits: the book discussed how the term 'exile' is used and defined, and reading that really hit me how deeply the '65 genocide impacted Indonesia and, despite that, the govt seems to think that it was nothing.
The blurb at the back mentioned more discussion about the term—I look forward to read about it more.

It’s…kinda exhaustive. Probably because it’s actually an interview? Each interview question is answered with a very wide, very long story, with little to none sections to differentiate each topic, so my brain hurts, lol. Ms Soe-Tjen stated at the beginning of the book that how the story is presented is based on each exile’s request, tho. So. Hm.
I wonder why she put this one as the first story, because I think the next one has more structured, and easy-to-read format? I don’t know, I haven’t reached there. I just skimmed the pages.
Format aside, the first story is very informative! A lot of historical events laid out (slightly unorganized, imo, sadly) and I learned a lot about my own country, and Germany, as the first respondent lives in Germany now.
I admit I kinda get bored in the middle of these exhaustive paragraphs. I hope the next respondent will be more organized and easier to read.
