It's been a while since I read the first couple of books in the series, and I remember liking them, but... Are they really attributing "Half-Hanged Mary" (by Margaret Atwood, an amazing narrative poem based on a true story from the Salem witch trials era) to a character in this book? Also, why does Penny write about these characters as if 40-something is approaching elderly and 60-something is absolutely ancient?

I'm only about halfway done, but wow this book is powerful. I've been making a conscious effort in the last few years to make myself more aware of racism in all its forms and what I can do about it, and this book continues to show me that the more I learn, the more clueless I realize I am. It's been eye-opening so far!

This is the second time I've started this book. I've made it farther than the last time I started, but I hope the abuse and rape talk tones down soon, or I might just give up on this one. It's gotten great reviews, but I find that really hard to stomach, especially in YA fiction!

I'm already geeking out over this book after reading the preface. "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" was one of the most interesting nonfiction books I've ever read. I just love these true stories of the adaptability of the human brain!

Rereading for Reading Between the Wines book club.

Finally getting back to this book after a few months off. (Had to return it to the library and then find it again.) Brian is so articulate, Betsy is so strong, and the girls are so adorable! I've met Betsy through TNT, so it's extra inspiring to read their true story.

I love getting book recommendations from a book! Makes me want to spend my summer reading out in the woods.

I'm excited to read this one, especially looking at how many friends gave it 4 or 5 stars!

Such an intense book. Krakauer is an incredible author, but man these stories are disturbing, frustrating, aggravating...

An unbelievable story so far! I was thinking about Louie as I watched the TC 1 Mile Championship last night. He would have been right up with the front of the pack!

A friend posted about this book/series on Facebook, so I decided to check it out. I can't put it down!

I forgot my other book at home, so decided to start rereading a good one on my phone while riding the bus.

The difference in style is throwing me off these first few chapters! Going from just Tris as the narrator to switching between characters is making it harder to follow, at least so far.

One of the few books I can open on my Kindle app right now, so I started reading it. I'm curious about these girls' mysterious past!

Wow this book is long! I don't read much fantasy, but I'm definitely getting into this one.

This is a super quick read so far. It reminds me a lot of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, with all of the literary references and mental illness, except the protagonist in this one is older, but somehow less mature in my mind. I'm going to have to see the movie soon.

I am really not enjoying this book! A couple people I've talked to said it was a really quick read, but it's taking me forever. I guess it's just not holding my attention.

Favorite quote so far: "Although we might be weird, we certainly weren't useless or handicapped... we possessed skills and talents that most people would be envious of."

I don't usually like short stories- I prefer the character development and detail of a novel- but decided to pick this one up to read the story behind the movie. And since I can never only read part of a book...

I keep forgetting I'm in the middle of this one! Not the greatest book to read on my phone's kindle app...

I read the series last year but decided to reread now.

Vi leser denne boka i "Norwegian Boot Camp" som jeg leder på Mindekirken 7.-16. august.

I am apparently unable to read just one book at a time. I picked up this one to preview it for my Norwegian class (yes, it's in English. long story...) and I just couldn't wait to start it. I love how philosophical Gaarder's books are. I expect I will finish this one quickly!
